Do you want to be my friend ?

Social network are community on the Internet. They permit to create a profil and to meet people. Sometimes they become virtual friends, that means that you speak with them like with real friends, but only online.
For example, MySpace is the most important social network in the world : it has more next to 1 millions of subscribers. In France, skyblog is a social network too.

Personally, I use Réseau Campus, which is a student network, and Viaduc, a professionnal network.
In the futur, these social network will increase with Internet, because Intrenet generations meet easily people on the Internet than in reality. From marketing point of vue, it’s very interesting because they gather people around commons interest, for example photography, or music… They represent targets for advertise.

Against Piracy

Digital Rights Management (generally abbreviated to DRM) is term that refers to any of several technologies used by publishers or copyright owners to control access to and usage of digital music or video. This measure tends to protect the authors rights.
For example, when you buy a song with iTunes, you can only listen to it with 3 different computers. But if you download the same song from a peer to peer network, you’ll be able to listen it on as much computers or iPod as you want.
So in my opinion, the most affected are the donwloaders, because they can’t anymore share the files, and use the content they bought like they want.

Is it web neutrality good for the Internet ?

The Web neutrality is the idea that the companies that own the broadband pipes should not be allowed to reduce competitors broadband speed or to increase their own.
The debate is to know wether it’s better or not to permete to Internet consumers to access more easily one content than another.
In one hand, advocates of network neutrality claim that large telecommunications providers are attempting to unfairly profit from their investment in residential networks:
« These companies want to be Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow and which won't load at all »..."tax content providers to guarantee speedy delivery of their data."..."to discriminate in favor of their own search engines, Internet phone services, and streaming video —while slowing down or blocking their competitors"..."to reserve express lanes for their own content and services.

In the other hand, opponents of network neutrality regulations claim they would discourage investment in broadband networks:
"Sweeping and rigid net neutrality legislation could: hinder public safety and homeland security; complicate protecting Americans privacy; erode the quality and responsiveness of the Internet; limit consumers' competitive choices; and discourage investment in broadband deployment to all Americans."

It’s true that from companies point of view, the law of the strongest has always reigned on the market. But if we put ourselves next to consumer, Internet which is now a daily tool does not allow an easier access to a brand than another.
So, web neutrality is unfair or not ?

A very funny way to defend web neutrality by We are the Web :

what is a podcast ?

The official logo of podcasts

The word podcats is a contraction of "Ipod" and "broadcast".
The term was created by Adam Curry, and is used in the common language. It does not belong to a brand.

A podcast is a multimedia file distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster.

Though podcasters' web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital audio formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading feed formats such as RSS or Atom.

A podcast is different from radio broadcast because the diffusion is from one to one, and not one to the mass. So we can say that podcast are new direct marketing tools.

You can download Podcast in iTunes.
